They claim that survivors of Armageddon won’t reach perfection for 1000 years. What about Armageddon survivors who were terminally sick or elderly before Armageddon ? Will they die of old age or illness after Armageddon and be redirected later?

The Eyes Of Tammy Faye
by smiddy3 ini just watched this movie today and still not sure what to make of it .. did / do these people really believe what they preached ?
on the one hand i would say they did ,however on the other hand they knew religion was a gold mine for them .. and their lifestyle how they live reflected that .. and i can see the gb of the wt in it for the same reasons but they do it without all of the theatrics that these televangelists seem to thrive on.. i look forward to your thoughts on the movie..

I'm sure that Tammy Faye Bakker (and the man who married her), were just crazy enough to believe that God actually spoke to them.

Lawsuit: I said GB member Barr that my Bethelite stepfather abused me; he did nothing
by Corney inhere's an excerpt from the recent lawsuit deborah hines v. watchtower bible and tract society of new york et al (paragraphs 158-180), one of 29 known cases brought against the org pursuant to the ny child victims act.
what should be kept in mind is that gerrit lösch apparently worked in europe (the austrian branch and eastern europe) at the time when the abuse was allegedly reported to him (not a gb member then).. plaintiff was raised a member of the jehovah’s witnesses.
she primarily attended meetings at various congregations in arizona.

As a former Bethelite who knew Jack Barr and sat with him at the Governing Body table for meals every day, I don't see this young woman's account being far fetched at all especially back then. The GB were out and about and you'd see them especially if your work was in the offices rather than in the factory. If her father was so valued for his services in the video production that they actually allowed her as a young girl to live at Bethel as well, it could also mean that she had an unusual amount of access to the "higher ups" in the organization.
Jack Barr was a seemingly harmless kindly old guy who wore vintage 1940's suits and had been in that religious institution since the very early and hard core days of its existence . He was very out of touch with what life was like in the real world and with women and especially with young girls. I can easily see this matter being too big of a dose of reality for these idealistic old men to fully grasp the enormity of or to wrap their minds around. I could absolutely see the "cognitive dissonance" kicking in and he and the others dismissing this "emotional" young girls claims and putting the "organization" first by minimizing the events she reported. They would be all about keeping this exciting and expensive new venture into videos they'd stuck their necks out for, from being sullied or slowed down somehow.
The old guard were unbelievably out of touch and hard core religious fanatics especially when real life and their beloved organization, crossed paths. They are the same bunch that expected their members to go to prison, forego marriage, children and education for Jehovah. They expected their members to let themselves and or their children die over the directives they made in the name of Jehovah regarding blood and other medical matters, and expected that they'd view it as a privilege to do so. Their world was/is literally the center of the universe to them and there would be no way an emotional young girls tale of woe would be believed over a highly valued older male who denied or minimized the wrongdoing done to her.
If the governing body dismissed her claims, it would be easy for her local elders to follow suit.

Oh yeah...that was a JW thing for sure. JW's who didn't even know each other did and may still do this all over the world. It was part of the world wide unity they were so proud of. From the JW teachings, they all drew the same conclusion that when all the non JW's of the world were wiped out, their reward would be all the spoils left behind. Some were even vengeful about it. When they were rejected at the door, they'd come back and say to the car group. "That's Ok...I'm going to own that house after armageddon."
It never entered their head that the governing body will probably be in charge of who gets what and I'm sure they'll be charging rent or at the very least, deciding what color you can paint the house they allow you to have. There'll be no room in the new system for individualism.

How many states have you ever lived in? (USA)
I've visited almost every State in the union and I "lived"/was living in each of them while I was there.
Seriously though, I was born elsewhere but since moving to the U.S. as a child I've had long term residency in Washington State, California and New York. (3 guesses as to why I was living in NY)
Why do you ask?

A question I have had since I was in the cult
by mickbobcat inso anointed ones go to heaven and rule with christ.
men and women on earth can be of the anointed.
so does that mean woman are tranny's who are of the anointed?
-
Pete Zahut
So does that mean woman are tranny's who are of the anointed?
I heard the other day that Transgendered people, view the terms "Tranny" "He-She" "Shemale" as slurs and as offensive and disrespectful to them as the terms "Fags" or the "N" word etc, are to others.
As it is for black people who still choose to use the "N" word on each other, Transgendered individuals can choose to use the term "Tranny" but others shouldn't.
As for the Anointed ones, it seems that even though they will be the same person who was chosen to rule with Christ because of the qualities, knowledge and abilities they demonstrated while on earth, to JW's their genitalia makes it impossible for them to so much as carry the microphones or hand out literature in the Kingdom Hall.
As JW's, we were once somehow able to wrap our minds around this nonsense so I guess we should have no problem adjusting ourselves to the new terms certain members of the population have adopted for themselves. At least we can see and hear them and don't have to decipher what they're asking for, from a book of ancient and confusing writings.

Am I reading this right?

fractions of all "primary" components are now allowed?.

In Matt 12:11 Jesus demonstrated that even the life of an animal is more important than strict obedience to the law.
He replied, "if one of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will he not take hold of it and lift it out?
In terms of use of blood fractions as a way of "abstaining from blood", this makes about as much sense as celebrating fractions of Christmas or fractions of Birthdays. You can have a Christmas tree but it can't have lights on it. You can have a birthday cake but it can't have candles on it.

The Animal Sentience Bill - what next?
by LoveUniHateExams inso, in the uk there was recently a bill which was nodded through parliament - the animal sentience bill - which was backed by vegan activists.. dogs, cats.
cows, even lobsters now have been recognised to have feelings.. first of all, let me say that if you want to go vegan that's fine with me.
we're all allowed our individual dietary choices.. but for how much longer?

If animals are so sentient then why don’t they volunteer to stop killing each other? They should all be going vegan, right?
Hopefully you’re being facetious here but if not, the short answer is because they are not “sentiment” at at the same level as humans. Animals operate on instinct and unlike humans they have no other way of going about feeding themselves. Humans do, and we have the ability to do it “ humanely” ( hence the term). Children are sentiment to a point but we make provisions for them rather than take advantage of their low level of awareness. Those who don’t are considered bullies.

With a somewhat guilty mind, I eat meat but I'm all for improving the lot of animals. We know better now and have the means to treat them well while they are alive and the technology to make their slaughter as dignified and pain free as possible.
Unfortunately this won't be the norm until it is mandated by law. The other day I saw a truck and trailer going down the freeway at 60 mph and it was loaded to the gills with thousands of live chickens who were in open air cages and squashed down, one on top of the other to the point that they couldn't even move. The ones on the outside were being buffeted by the wind. Why is this still going on ?? Because it's the cheapest way to do it and until it's illegal, it will keep happening.
I see people posting their hunting photos on Facebook of their little boys and girls standing on the body of and elk or deer they've just killed. I get it but it somehow it bothers me to see a guy wearing $500 worth of gear, gleefully holding up the head of a dead animal by its horns as if they are mighty hunters, even though they rode to the hunt in a carpeted air conditioned vehicle with a stereo and heated leather seats and found the animal using GPS. From the comments people are making on their posts, it seems this is more about their egos and about having fun rather than feeding their families.
In terms of eating meat, in the days when hunting wasn't done for fun but was a necessity, was hard work and meat was hard to come by, rather than eating a huge slab of it in one sitting, they often used meat as a garnish. If we did the same, we'd probably be healthier and there'd be less animals killed.
It's my understanding that the Native Americans were big on respecting the life of the animals they consumed. I like the idea behind the biblical regulations given to the Israelites, regulating the way they handled the blood of the animals they slaughtered. This process slowed them down and made them stop to remember that that they just took the life of a living thing and it wasn't to be taken lightly.
I saw a documentary on Cambodia last week and it showed an open air market where a woman was squatted down in front of a tub of the huge bull frogs and she was efficiently ripping the skins off them live one by one and throwing them into a tub. They were hundreds of them in there, bloody and crawling all over each other and trying to hop out of the basin.
Humans can become quite calloused and I'd rather live in a country where the welfare of animals is a matter of law. This new law in the UK may not be perfect but maybe it's a move toward improving things for animals.
